Kashmir Security Grid Reviewed by Army Chief, Focus on Amarnath Yatra and Terror Threat

Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi assessed the security arrangements in the Kashmir Valley, following the recent Operation Sindoor, which was a response to the Pahalgam terror attack last month. The attack resulted in the death of 26 people, mostly tourists. General Dwivedi’s visit included a review of preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025, with an emphasis on ensuring the safety of pilgrims. The Army chief was briefed on operational updates and strategic aspects of the situation. He witnessed a demonstration of the integration of advanced technologies aimed at boosting military capabilities in decision-making, surveillance, and rapid response. The Chinar Corps was praised for its commitment to peace through counter-terrorism operations and regional development projects. General Dwivedi received updates on the number of terrorists in the valley, who are reportedly facing increased pressure and are mainly hiding in forested areas. The importance of modern technology in counter-terrorism was underscored, including the anti-infiltration grid along the Line of Control and advanced surveillance. In a separate incident, Baramulla police apprehended an individual in Pattan and seized incriminating materials such as posters from the banned JK National Front and AK-47 ammunition. The police are continuing their investigation.
