A tragic landslide on the Kedarnath Yatra route claimed the lives of two porters from Jammu and Kashmir and injured three others, including a pilgrim from Gujarat. The incident occurred near Jangalchatti in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district on Wednesday morning. According to officials, the landslide happened around 11:20 am, causing debris to fall and leading to casualties. Rescue teams, including the NDRF, SDRF, local police, and District Disaster Response Force, were immediately dispatched to the scene. The deceased were identified as Nitin Kumar and Chandrashekhar, both porters from J&K. Among the injured, Sandeep Kumar and Nitin Manhas sustained serious injuries, while pilgrim Akash Chitriya also suffered injuries. All were transported to Gaurikund Hospital. The event has prompted safety concerns regarding the Kedarnath Yatra, particularly during the monsoon season. The administration has advised pilgrims to exercise caution and follow prescribed safety protocols. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall in the region, issuing alerts for several districts in the coming days.
