This event is designed to offer the public relief through the resolution of various legal issues. The Lok Adalat, also known as Jan Adalat, allows for the amicable settlement of pending legal cases and disputes. Motorists can resolve their traffic challans. The forum also offers a platform to address family matters such as property acquisition, financial disputes, and marital issues. The National Lok Adalat will address various types of cases, including criminal compoundable offenses, cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act (Section 138), bank recovery cases, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal cases, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, land acquisition cases, electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable theft cases), service matters, revenue cases, and other civil cases. The Lok Adalat takes place in district courts, all taluka-level courts, labour and industrial courts, family courts, consumer forums, and other tribunals. Those wishing to participate need to submit applications to the respective courts.
