Following the alleged gang rape in Kolkata, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari has launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress. Bhandari accused the Mamata Banerjee government of failing to protect women, citing the involvement of a TMC member in the Kasba gang rape case. He claimed that the TMC fosters a culture of impunity for its members, endangering the safety of women in the state. The National Commission for Women has intervened, taking suo-motu cognisance of the incident and demanding a detailed report from the DGP. NCW member Archana Majumdar expressed shock and concern over the incident, emphasizing the need for justice and security for women. BJP leader Dilip Ghosh also criticized the state’s law and order, asserting that TMC leaders are often linked to criminal activities. The police have arrested three individuals in connection with the gang rape of a law student in Kolkata’s Kasba area.
