An 18-year-old man is in police custody in Madhya Pradesh, following allegations of raping a four-year-old cousin. The incident took place in Satna district, under the Uchehra police station’s purview, on June 23. Police reports indicate the accused used a deceptive tactic involving fruit to lure the girl to a remote location near railway tracks where the assault occurred. Local women discovered the victim and informed her family, prompting the police to take swift action. The young girl is now receiving medical care and is reported to be stable. Separately, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has intervened in a reported gang rape of a 20-year-old female college student on a beach in Odisha, issuing notices to state officials for a comprehensive report on the case.
