From the ballads of Alha-Udal to Chandela forts, Mahoba’s storied past is evolving into a modern tourism magnet. The Rs 24.98 crore Swadesh Darshan 2.0 project is fast-tracking its ascent as Bundelkhand’s cultural-education nexus.
Building on UP’s tourism triumphs in holy cities, the state now spotlights Bundelkhand’s treasures. Mahoba’s solar traditions offer unique allure. Developments feature an innovative Sun Interpretation Center, a symbolic triangular garden, lavish entry arches, and digital navigation aids. Initial funds disbursed; 2026 finish line in sight.
Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh described Bundelkhand as India’s valorous soul. With 28 lakh tourists in 2025, Mahoba’s star is rising. The expansive 4,210 sqm center will enchant with solar narratives, interactive and insightful.
Roof motifs for daily vigils pair with a sundial; green initiatives include solar arrays, harvesting, eco-surfaces, and waste tech. Dynamic zones explore Helios-to-Konark odysseys, celestial science, environmental ties, time systems, and societal impacts via 3D spectacles and soundscapes.
Shiv Tandav’s garden hosts a chariot-borne Sun deity, amplified by triple grand portals evoking heritage. ‘Beyond tourism, it inspires youth with ancestral knowledge and sustainability,’ said Amrit Abhijat. Mahoba emerges as Bundelkhand’s beacon, inviting global explorers to its revitalized realms.
