Tragedy struck Kannur’s Thaliparamba town as a significant fire broke out at a popular shopping complex, causing extensive damage. The incident commenced around 5:30 PM within a toy shop on the first level of the three-story structure and quickly escalated, engulfing neighboring businesses. Authorities confirmed that despite the intensity of the fire, all occupants were successfully evacuated, ensuring no lives were lost. Fire and rescue services mobilized a substantial fleet of 12 fire tenders from across the district, with additional support en route to bring the situation under control. The rapid spread has led to the complete destruction of an estimated ten shops. While eyewitnesses cited initial delays in the fire response, officials are focused on containing the damage. Investigations are underway to pinpoint the exact cause, though a potential short circuit is being considered. The complex’s location within a dense commercial area presented significant challenges for firefighters.
