In a move to secure broad support, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking the backing of opposition parties for CP Radhakrishnan, the NDA’s candidate for Vice President. Modi underscored the significance of the forthcoming election of the Rajya Sabha chairman through a general committee and mentioned that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is actively engaged in discussions with leaders across the political spectrum. Modi praised Radhakrishnan as a distinguished public servant, known for his humility and lack of controversy, and urged all parties to unite and support his candidacy. This appeal comes after the BJP Parliamentary Board’s nomination of Radhakrishnan, which has garnered support from NDA allies, while the opposition India Bloc is still deliberating on the matter. According to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, following the NDA’s Parliamentary Party meeting, Prime Minister Modi requested support from all MPs, including the Opposition, for CP Radhakrishnan in the Vice Presidential elections.
