Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Accra, Ghana, was met with a warm reception from President John Dramani Mahama, including a Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute. The visit is historic, representing the first bilateral trip by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in over three decades. Discussions between PM Modi and President Mahama are a key part of the visit. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that this visit is part of a broader tour covering five nations – Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia – from July 2 to July 9. PM Modi highlighted the importance of strengthening historical ties and fostering new collaborations in areas like investment, energy, health, security, capacity building, and development partnerships. He also expressed his honor to address the Parliament of Ghana. The Indian community in Ghana showed enthusiasm for PM Modi’s visit, with many gathering to express their support.
