India’s monsoon season is in full swing, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall to several states between July 17th and 23rd, including Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Bihar, and others. The IMD has issued alerts for extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal. Central, eastern, southern, and northwestern regions should brace for heavy to very heavy showers in the coming days. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are also expected across many states.
East & Central India: Odisha (July 24-25), Chhattisgarh (July 25-26), Madhya Pradesh (July 26-27), Vidarbha and Gangetic West Bengal (July 25) are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted for Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand (July 24-28). Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also likely.
South Peninsular India: Coastal Karnataka is expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall on July 24. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted for Kerala, Mahe, and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka (July 24-29). Strong surface winds are expected.
Northwest India: Very heavy rainfall is likely in East Rajasthan (July 27-28) and West Uttar Pradesh (July 28). Heavy rainfall is likely in multiple areas including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi Weather: Delhi is experiencing a rise in maximum temperatures. The minimum temperatures were in the range of 23-26°C, and maximum temperatures were in the range of 35-36°C. Westerly winds were present.
