Following a fatal incident on Mumbai’s railway system, Indian Railways is set to overhaul its non-AC train fleet. The redesign will incorporate auto-closing doors and enhanced ventilation to prevent similar accidents. The Railway Board has stated that the upgraded trains will feature louvres on the doors and roof-mounted ventilation units. The implementation of these changes comes after a tragic accident near Mumbra railway station, where four commuters lost their lives. The new trains are expected to be ready by late 2025, with service commencing in early 2026.
