In a move towards ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and women-led development, the MWCD and MSDE are jointly launching the ‘NAVYA’ initiative. This pilot project aims to equip adolescent girls with vocational skills. The launch event is scheduled for Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. The initiative targets adolescent girls aged 16-18 who have completed Class 10, offering vocational training in non-traditional fields. This pilot program will be rolled out in 27 districts across 19 states, including aspirational districts and those in the North-Eastern region, demonstrating the government’s focus on reaching underserved areas. The collaboration between the ministries will formalize efforts to integrate skill development schemes for adolescent girls, leveraging the strengths of PMKVY and other relevant programs. The launch will include interactions with trainees and the distribution of PMKVY and PM Vishwakarma certificates.
