The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has sent a strong message to criminals preying on train passengers. In four separate but linked operations between April 13 and 16, RPF recovered stolen mobile phones worth over ₹80,000 and arrested the perpetrators, bolstering faith in rail security measures.

Rangiya’s Crime Prevention team led the charge on April 13, boarding a train to apprehend a thief in the act. Recovered items: mobiles totaling ₹40,000. The suspect was remanded to GRP Rangiya under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita charges.

On April 14, Katihar (East) RPF made a platform arrest, seizing a ₹15,000 phone. GRP Katihar filed the case per BNS.

Guwahati CPDS followed suit at the city’s key station, netting another ₹15,000 stolen device. The offender faced GRP scrutiny.

Finally, on April 16, Bongaigaon station’s RPF post uncovered a ₹10,000 phone on a caught thief, forwarding him to GRP New Bongaigaon.

NFR PRO Kampinjal Kishore Sharma hailed the teams’ efficiency. Based in Maligaon, the railway’s vast jurisdiction covers northeastern connectivity alongside West Bengal and Bihar districts.

This surge in enforcement isn’t accidental—it’s the result of intensified patrols and passenger tips. NFR calls on everyone to join the fight: stay watchful, secure your belongings, and report anomalies to authorities. Safe travels begin with shared responsibility.
