The inaugural phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is underway, marked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fervent appeal to citizens to actively participate in the democratic exercise. His succinct message, ‘Pehle matadan, phir jalpan,’ translated as ‘first voting, then refreshments,’ highlighted his particular encouragement for new voters to make their voices heard.
Prime Minister Modi took to X to address voters in the 121 constituencies involved in the first phase. He implored everyone, with a special focus on the youth and those voting for the very first time, to cast their ballot with immense enthusiasm. This phase of the Bihar Elections 2025 involves 3.75 crore voters who will make critical decisions for 1,314 candidates across 18 districts. Polling stations opened at 7 am and will remain operational until 5 pm. Authorities have implemented stringent arrangements for secure and transparent voting, with central forces stationed at identified sensitive polling booths. This initial electoral battle features prominent leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, the INDIA bloc’s choice for Chief Minister, and BJP’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
