Punjab is grappling with the aftermath of severe flooding, with CM Bhagwant Mann outlining measures to provide relief. The flooding caused significant disruption, impacting agricultural lands and displacing residents. The state received ₹1600 crore in relief funds from the central government. Mann announced ₹20,000 per acre in compensation for farmers whose crops were destroyed. District collectors have been instructed to conduct rapid assessments to determine the extent of the damage. Homeowners will receive ₹40,000, and compensation for lost livestock will be provided, with increased amounts based on the loss. The Chief Minister aims to distribute compensation by Diwali, and noted that families of the deceased will also be compensated. He promised strict measures against any irregularities in the compensation process and expressed his commitment to serving the people during this crisis.
