Sunday marked a milestone for Tripura University as Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan chief guest at its 14th convocation in Suryamaninagar, Agartala. His morning devotion at Mata Tripura Sundari Temple added a sacred dimension to the academic festivities.
In an impassioned address, Radhakrishnan exhorted students to forge ahead in constructing the nation’s tomorrow, spearhead societal transformation via research, and safeguard cultural legacies. He celebrated the university’s ascent as a thriving nexus of teaching, scholarly pursuits, and inventive breakthroughs.
The Vice President drew attention to the transformative ‘Matabari Tourism Circuit,’ poised to showcase Tripura’s spiritual heritage and eco-tourism on global platforms. It will spur employment and economic growth, amplified by the strides made in Modi’s 10-year tenure.
Dignitaries in attendance encompassed Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, CM Prof. Manik Saha, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, VC Prof. Shyamal Das, Registrar Prof. Samir Kumar Sil, and additional VIPs.
With 2024-2025 events postponed, this convocation bridged the gap. Stellar moments included awarding 283 gold medals to departmental toppers and granting PhDs to 149 scholars, complete with degrees and certificates.
Radhakrishnan’s itinerary featured prior speeches at Mizoram University’s 20th and Nagaland University’s 8th convocations. His arrival in Aizawl was met with honors from Governor Gen. Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.), Education Minister Vanlalthlana, and senior functionaries at Lengpui Airport.
