Security forces at Roorkee Cantonment have detained an individual falsely presenting himself as an Indian Army member. The man, later identified as Surendra Kumar from Rajasthan, was intercepted near the Military Engineering Services (MES) gate. His suspicious activities were initially noted by Army intelligence officers, who then alerted the Haridwar district police and other intelligence agencies. A collaborative effort led to Kumar’s apprehension. Upon his arrest, he was wearing an Army uniform and was found to be carrying multiple bank debit cards, a counterfeit Army identity card, a fraudulent enlistment document, and a personalized nameplate. Investigations are ongoing to determine the purpose of his infiltration into the high-security zone and to uncover any potential accomplices or broader objectives. This event echoes a recent arrest in Sambhajinagar, where a woman was caught fabricating her identity as a retired Army officer to attend public functions.
