The main roadway component of the extensive Ganga Expressway initiative has been successfully finished. Parallel projects, including service roads, toll collection points, tree plantations, signage, street illumination, and the deployment of surveillance cameras at one-kilometer intervals, have either been finalized or are actively progressing. The construction of the service lanes experienced brief delays due to rainfall, but activities have now resumed.
During a project inspection on Saturday, Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma issued a directive for all remaining tasks to be concluded by November 2, 2025. This 594-kilometer expressway, linking Meerut and Prayagraj, is designed to ease travel between the eastern and western regions of Uttar Pradesh. The total project cost is approximately Rs 36,000 crore and will connect 12 districts.
DM Verma performed a site inspection at the Judhapur Dandu village in Prayagraj, the expressway’s starting point, and assessed the physical progress of the construction, traffic management plans, and roadmaps. Construction agency representatives indicated that the project is structured into four groups, with Group 4 encompassing 15.2 kilometers within the Prayagraj district. The expressway is designed with six lanes, while the main structure is engineered to accommodate eight lanes, allowing for future expansion.
