The Supreme Court has taken charge of the management of the Shri Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan by forming a committee. Retired Justice Ashok Kumar of the Allahabad High Court will lead the committee. The written order from the Supreme Court specifies that this committee will handle the temple’s day-to-day activities until the Allahabad High Court delivers its verdict on the Uttar Pradesh government’s ordinance. The Supreme Court has halted the Uttar Pradesh government from forming a trust for temple management according to the ordinance’s provisions. The Supreme Court’s move comes after it had previously sent the challenge to the ordinance’s constitutional validity to the Allahabad High Court.
