The Semicon India 2025 event was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The event, held at Yashobhoomi, aims to boost the semiconductor sector within India. Over three days, from September 2 to 4, the conference will center on building a strong and self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem. During his address, PM Modi made a playful comment, highlighting his recent international trips. He underscored the international community’s trust in India and its readiness to collaborate on semiconductor development. The Prime Minister referenced the approval of India’s first semiconductor plant in 2023, followed by subsequent project approvals, leading to a total investment exceeding Rs 1.5 lakh crore across ten semiconductor projects. He highlighted the National Single Window System, designed to simplify the approval process for investors. PM Modi expressed a welcoming stance toward investors and projected a future where India would be recognized for its semiconductor designs, manufacturing, and global trust. He also emphasized India’s ambition to evolve from a backend role to a full-stack semiconductor nation, envisioning India’s technology driving significant global change.
