Police in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra, have arrested Manoj Kadam, a 45-year-old senior officer, following allegations of sexual assault made by a 21-year-old female security guard. The incident occurred on September 10th at a newly opened mall, with the official complaint filed on September 11th. Kadam, a resident of Chikhali, was apprehended by the Wakad Police’s Detection Branch. The victim stated that she was taken to the third floor of the mall by her senior under the pretext of a ‘client visit.’ There, Kadam allegedly attempted to entice her with offers of advancement and a pay raise before engaging in inappropriate physical behavior. The woman managed to fend off the advances and fled the scene. The following day, she reported the incident to the police, supported by her husband and co-workers, and a case was registered. Kadam now faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically BNS Sections 64, 68(A), and 68(c). The Wakad Police Station is currently conducting further investigations into the case.
