A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Bengaluru has sentenced three individuals to seven years in prison and a fine of ₹36,000 each for their involvement in the August 11, 2020, attack on DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations. The convicts, identified as Syed Ikramuddin (Syed Naveed), Syed Atif, and Mohammed Atif, confessed to their roles in the incident, leading to the court’s decision. They were identified as the 14th, 16th, and 18th accused respectively. The case involved a total of 199 accused, with the trial of the others yet to commence. The incident resulted in damage to twelve vehicles, including an Innova car and several other vehicles. The unrest stemmed from a protest against a social media post made by Naveen, a relative of then-MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy. The protest, which was spearheaded by Syed Ikramuddin, prompted police to impose Section 144 CrPC, leading to the ensuing violence.
