Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha have been placed in 13-day judicial custody by a district and sessions court in Shillong, Meghalaya, concerning the Raja Raghuvanshi murder investigation. The East Khasi Hills district SP confirmed the judicial custody order. The Assistant Public Prosecutor explained that the court granted judicial custody because the police did not request it. Previously, the remaining accused, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand, were remanded to 14-day judicial custody. The arrests were made after the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was on his honeymoon. His body was found near Sohra (Cherrapunji) on June 2. The couple, from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, had disappeared during their trip. The police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) reconstructed the crime scene in Sohra with the accused present. The SP indicated that the reconstruction gave a clear understanding of the events. The police are still searching for a machete used in the murder. The re-enactment showed the positions of the accused just before the crime, and how the body was disposed. Sonam and Vishal are also said to have damaged the victim’s phone after the murder. According to the investigation, Vishal struck Raja first, followed by others, and then the body was thrown down.
