Mumbai buzzed with political rhetoric Sunday as Deputy CM Eknath Shinde called out the Maha Vikas Aghadi. Addressing press after cabinet deliberations, he invited opposition leaders to demonstrate their allegations in the budget assembly session.
Dismissing off-site criticisms, Shinde said, ‘Assemble evidence in the house for real scrutiny— that’s democracy at work.’ He advocated for structured legislative confrontations over sporadic outbursts.
Regarding opposition hierarchy, he observed the lack of designated LoPs. ‘Speakers and Chairmen hold that authority exclusively,’ Shinde remarked, highlighting procedural independence.
Showcasing governance, he lauded ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin’ as emblematic of inclusive policies. ‘Our dedication to progress will be vindicated through open assembly discourse,’ he projected.
Shinde decried Youth Congress actions at Delhi’s AI Summit as image-tarnishing. Responding to Mulund metro collapse, measures included engineer dismissal, project-wide audits, Rs 5 lakh family aid, victim treatments covered, MMRDA’s supplementary Rs 15 lakh.
Forecasting the upcoming 2026-27 budget, he promised welfare amplification and developmental thrust. As Maharashtra gears up, Shinde’s dare could redefine session dynamics.
