The community in Haryana’s Panipat is reeling from a shocking incident of child abuse at a local school. A seven-year-old student was cruelly punished for not completing his homework, a scene captured in two disturbing videos. The footage, which has gone viral, shows the principal and other staff members inflicting violence on the young students. In one clip, the school driver, Ajay, is seen suspending the child upside down while beating him. The second video shows Principal Reena slapping the children. The boy’s mother reported that her son was newly admitted to the school and that the principal had ordered the driver to punish the child. The principal has stated that she had notified the parents prior to disciplining the child. The principal admitted to instructing Ajay to reprimand the boy on August 13 and that the driver was later dismissed. The family alleges that the driver sent individuals to threaten them after the videos went public. The Model Town Police are investigating the incident, having filed a case under the Juvenile Justice Act (2015), with the principal and driver facing potential arrest.
