The Kerala High Court has mandated an SIT investigation concerning the weight discrepancy observed in the gold-plated idols at the Sabarimala Temple. The investigation was prompted by the reduced weight of the gold-plated copper plates of the temple’s guardian deities after being sent for electroplating to a company in Chennai. The TDB vigilance team conducted an initial investigation, which was followed by the High Court’s decision to establish an SIT for a more thorough examination. The inquiry seeks to uncover the reasons behind the weight reduction and the circumstances surrounding the event. Unnikrishnan Potty, a businessman, financed the investigation.
