Adding to the seismic activity, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Nicobar Islands region around 12:12 am IST on Tuesday. The quake’s epicenter was approximately 259 km west-northwest of Sabang, Indonesia. The United States Geological Survey and the Tsunami Warning System confirmed that no tsunami alert was issued following the event.
