RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has responded to the Bihar government’s plan to establish a State Sanitation Workers Commission, highlighting the necessity of first securing the basic requirements of sanitation workers. Yadav specifically pointed out the critical need for adequate equipment and the prompt disbursement of salaries. He stated that these provisions are essential before any further steps are taken. The Chief Minister’s announcement, made on his X account, detailed the Commission’s objectives, including safeguarding the rights and welfare of sanitation workers. The Commission will be comprised of a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, and five members, with a designated representative from the woman/transgender community. This body will focus on integrating sanitation workers into society and advancing their socio-economic status. The announcement comes amid a series of pre-election promises by CM Nitish Kumar, including initiatives related to electricity, employment, and journalist pensions, as Bihar prepares for the 2025 Assembly elections.
