The Indian Embassy in Bangkok has cautioned Indian travelers regarding the ongoing border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia. The advisory recommends that travelers monitor updates from Thai official channels like the TAT Newsroom. Thailand has seen a significant increase in Indian tourists, becoming the third-largest source market. Over 2.1 million Indians visited Thailand in 2024, a record number, encouraged by visa-free travel. The historical border conflict, rooted in disagreements from the early 1900s, has caused repeated clashes. A recent escalation, including an exchange of fire and landmine incidents, resulted in border restrictions, diplomatic expulsions, and trade disputes.
