A significant disruption occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway when toll workers at the Fatehabad plaza protested an inadequate Diwali bonus. Unhappy with receiving only Rs 1100, 21 employees opened all toll barriers, permitting thousands of vehicles to pass without charge. The protest lasted for approximately two hours, drawing police attention to mediate the conflict between staff and their employer, Shri Sign & Datar. The company, which began managing the plaza in March, cited their recent takeover as the reason for the limited bonus, claiming they couldn’t account for a full year’s contribution. To resolve the impasse, management offered a 10% salary hike, which appeased the workers, leading to the resumption of toll operations. This incident highlights ongoing labor disputes concerning bonus structures and company transitions.
