Heartbreaking scenes unfolded on Chhattisgarh’s Raipur-Bilaspur National Highway after a violent bus-truck collision near Simga claimed five lives, including a child, and injured over 30 others. The RBS passenger bus from Bilaspur slowed near Darchura around 11 AM to pick up travelers when a trailing truck, driven negligently at top speed, crashed into it.
The collision’s intensity shattered the bus, causing instantaneous deaths of four passengers: an 80-year-old, two women in their 60s and 20s, and later a toddler and teen girl in medical care. Rescue teams worked tirelessly amid twisted metal to save the trapped.
Victims were stabilized at Simga Community Health Center before transfers to Raipur for specialized treatment. Identified dead: Bemetara’s Dashrath Sahu (80) and Triveni Sahu (62), Beter’s Radhika Nirmalkar (24), Khushi Sahu (2), and an unidentified 18-year-old.
Authorities cite driver rashness as the culprit, with investigations ongoing into possible contributing elements like vehicle fitness or signage. The truck driver faces charges as police reconstruct the fatal sequence.
Amid rising road fatalities, this crash spotlights urgent needs for radar enforcement, awareness drives, and highway expansions. The loss reverberates through communities, urging immediate action for safer travels.
