Following Donald Trump’s announcement of a 25% tariff on Indian exports, Shashi Tharoor has voiced strong criticism. He described the situation as ‘very serious,’ warning of potential harm to India’s trade with the United States. Tharoor pointed out that the tariffs, coupled with potential penalties on oil and gas purchases from Russia, could significantly increase costs, potentially reaching up to 45% or even higher. The Congress leader also acknowledged the ongoing trade negotiations, stressing the need for a balanced approach where the US takes into account India’s economic needs and interests.
