A brewing crisis in Congress has drawn sharp rebukes from BJP after former leader Shakeel Ahmad reported receiving menacing threats. Bihar’s political heavyweights from the ruling camp have seized the moment to portray the opposition as bullies who dread candor.
In Patna, Minister Mangal Pandey lambasted Congress’s monarchical mindset. ‘Like ancient rulers, they crush any leader who dares utter the truth—Shakeel Ahmad’s case is proof,’ he told journalists. Pandey traced this behavior back through the party’s storied yet controversial history.
Dilip Jaiswal, another cabinet minister, zeroed in on Ahmad’s barbs against Rahul Gandhi. ‘Exposing a leadership bent on self-destruction took guts. Increasingly, voices are rising against Rahul’s tenure,’ Jaiswal noted, framing it as a party-wide reckoning.
JD(U)’s Rajiv Ranjan Prasad stressed the urgency of safety protocols. ‘Frustration has Congress on edge; anything could happen. Shakeel should arrange adequate safeguards,’ he recommended.
Detailing the threats, Ahmad recounted Youth Congress communications post his remarks labeling Rahul Gandhi ‘cowardly’ and ‘insecure.’ He warned of planned strikes on his Patna and Madhubani properties, backed by Delhi-issued mandates for protests and effigy burnings.
This confrontation lays bare Congress’s internal fractures, handing BJP a potent weapon in Bihar’s political chessboard. Beyond immediate rhetoric, it signals deeper malaise in opposition unity, potentially influencing electoral strategies and voter alignments as India gears up for high-stakes polls.
