Union Minister Kiren Rijiju recounted his involvement in a rescue operation in Ladakh following a vehicle accident. The incident, which happened just before his convoy, involved a vehicle that plunged into a river near Drass. Rijiju shared the details on his ‘X’ account, stating that both individuals inside the vehicle were rescued. “Before reaching Drass in Ladakh, a vehicle fell into the river right in front of our convoy. Fortunately, we were on time and both individuals survived,” he posted. Rijiju also shared his positive experience in Sonmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, the day before, expressing his gratitude to the administrations of Ganderbal and Kargil. He acknowledged the warm welcome from his guide, Mohammad Sidiq Mir, and others in Sonmarg, highlighting the development taking place in the State. Rijiju wrote, “On the way to Kargil, I had a memorable moment at Sonmarg. Grateful to both administrations of Ganderbal and Kargil. Thanks to senior guide Mohammad Sidiq Mir and other friends of Sonmarg for the wonderful company! Real development is happening now. Common people of Kashmir are great hosts & they are dead against the violence perpetrated by the enemies.” Beyond the rescue, Rijiju commented on remarks made by activist and former Planning Commission member Syeda Hameed, who suggested Bangladeshis could live in India. He criticized her comments, accusing her of misleading people under the guise of humanitarianism, and stated she should not support illegal immigration.
