A game-changing development for Uttar Pradesh’s rail users: 1,680 brand-new toilets for women are on the way at 640 stations. Aimed at elevating hygiene standards and personal security, the project will particularly aid those navigating from underserved rural pockets.
Revealed by Aparna Yadav of the UP Women’s Commission, the plan has earned widespread applause. Yadav emphasized its role in curbing infections from substandard facilities and appreciated the railways’ swift action. She extended thanks to PM Modi for cultivating an environment where women’s welfare drives policy across ministries.
The push stems from years of passenger feedback, including appeals to Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw by associations. Coverage extends to vital zones—Lucknow and Moradabad (Northern), Lucknow, Izzatnagar, Varanasi (North Eastern), and Agra, Jhansi, Prayagraj (North Central). Big stations are somewhat prepared, but smaller ones have fallen short, causing distress.
Delivering secure and spotless amenities, this will transform journeys for countless women, fostering dignity and well-being. It marks a forward-thinking stride in railway modernization, aligning infrastructure with modern gender needs.
