Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has delivered yet another win for Madhya Pradesh’s farming community, approving a Rs 600 per quintal bonus for urad over the MSP of Rs 7,800. Announced during a press briefing, this measure aligns with the state’s ‘Farmer Welfare Year’ celebrations.
With urad spanning five lakh hectares, the incentive targets higher yields and expanded cultivation—potentially adding three lakh hectares. Yadav noted continuous efforts to double incomes, spotlighting urad’s role in summer agriculture.
The government’s track record shines through the Bhavantar scheme, which funneled Rs 1,500 crore to soybean producers. Mustard farmers, stewarding 28% of the arable land with 15.71 lakh metric tonnes anticipated, will soon access the same via Mandi Board channels.
Madhya Pradesh is setting benchmarks in pro-farmer governance. This urad bonus not only stabilizes earnings but also encourages diversification into pulses. As implementation kicks off, farmers are optimistic about record harvests and sustained growth in the sector.
