Union Minister Piyush Goyal has recognized the remarkable progress of Uttar Pradesh under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, citing ‘world-class infrastructure’ and ‘strong law and order’ as cornerstones of its economic ascendancy. Goyal stated that the state, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, has become an attractive hub for businesses. He noted the strong desire of the people of Uttar Pradesh to secure a better future for their families, a sentiment that the government’s development policies are actively supporting. The Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2023-24 report further underscores UP’s emergence as an industrial powerhouse. It places the state among the top five industrial entities in India based on various metrics like employment generation, factory numbers, production output, and Gross Value Added (GVA). The report highlights a significant jump in industrial employment, with Uttar Pradesh contributing 8% to the national industrial workforce and creating over 5.7 million jobs in this sector in the last decade. The state’s manufacturing sector is expanding rapidly, now housing 8.51% of all factories in India, ranking fourth nationwide. This growth is attributed to enhanced industrial facilities and policies that encourage investment and business establishment. Production and GVA figures showcase impressive growth rates, with UP making a substantial contribution to India’s overall GVA, particularly in key manufacturing areas such as automobiles, chemicals, and food processing.
