Uttarakhand’s Dehradun experienced a devastating cloudburst in the Karligarh Sahastradhara area on Monday night, resulting in widespread destruction. Heavy rainfall led to flash floods, which severely impacted numerous homes, businesses, and hotels. The impact of the cloudburst was far-reaching, with debris affecting areas near the IT Park in Dehradun and causing the Song River to rise. Following the incident, the local government declared a holiday for all schools (grades 1-12) on September 16. The India Meteorological Department has warned of intense rainfall in several districts, issuing a red alert for Dehradun, which includes predictions of heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and high winds. The Tamsa, Chandrabhaga, and Sahastradhara rivers all experienced flooding. Videos shared on social media showed the Tapkeshwar Mahadev Shivalinga complex being particularly hard-hit, with debris accumulating up to 2 feet. Damage was also reported at the bridge near Fun Valley and Uttarakhand Dental College on the Dehradun–Haridwar National Highway.
