Tensions in Cuttack, Odisha, have escalated, prompting a 36-hour curfew and a 24-hour internet suspension across the city. The stringent measures were enacted after violent clashes, including incidents during a Durga idol immersion procession. One incident involved police officers and members of an organization that was refused a bike rally permit, leading to eight officers being injured. Earlier, clashes occurred near Haathi Pokhari late Friday night during an idol immersion event, allegedly stemming from disagreements over music volume. The violence resulted in multiple injuries, including that of the Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police, as stones and bottles were thrown.
