Echoes of valor filled Sivaganga as Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan commemorated Rani Velu Nachiyar, the trailblazing Sivaganga ruler who defied British forces in the 1700s. At her Viramangai memorial on Sunday, he invoked her life as a roadmap for India’s developmental aspirations, connecting personally with her progeny.
As the first queen to arm against colonial tyranny, Nachiyar’s saga inspires ongoing narratives of courage. The Vice President continued his homage at Sivaganga Palace, honoring King Muthu Vijaya Raghunatha, before seeking blessings at Thirukostiyur’s Soumyanarayan Perumal Temple for universal welfare.
The day prior, on Mother Language Day, Radhakrishnan launched updated Constitution versions in Tamil and Gujarati, plus the Legal Glossary’s latest edition. Describing Tamil as a classical gem and Gujarati as philosophically rich, he underscored the move’s role in amplifying democratic voices through familiar idioms.
Applauding the Ministry of Law and Justice, he marveled at India’s polyglot heritage spanning Tamil to Kashmiri dialects. ‘Our Constitution uniquely honors this spectrum, promoting pluralism as strength—no parallel exists worldwide,’ he concluded, urging embrace of linguistic roots for national unity.
