A leading Deobandi cleric, Maulana Kari Ishak Gora, has publicly chided RSS head Mohan Bhagwat for his ‘Ghar Wapsi’ observation, arguing it ill-befits a thinker of his prominence. The Jamiat Dawat-ul-Muslimeen figure from Saharanpur sees it as grist for the mill of those manipulating faith for political ends.
During a candid conversation with journalists, Gora hailed Bhagwat’s general sagacity but questioned the remark’s intent: ‘It feels inadvertent, yet there might be more to it.’ He clarified that a viral Arshad Madani clip was from the past, not a fresh retort.
Painting a grim picture, Gora decried how select agitators use religion to provoke, instill dread, and splinter the populace—actions he deems nation-damaging and worthy of universal disdain.
Weighing in on ‘The Kerala Story-2’ amid its storm, he accused filmmakers of chasing divisive narratives that spotlight ‘Love Jihad’ falsehoods to terrorize and target faiths. ‘Bollywood’s credibility is in tatters; audiences are savvy to these ploys,’ Gora concluded.
As voices clash over identity and conversion, this critique amplifies demands for dialogue that unites rather than divides.
