The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall across India for the coming week. The monsoon has become active and will affect much of northwest, central, and eastern India. Numerous states, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Jharkhand, are anticipating persistent rainfall. Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha could experience particularly intense rainfall. The IMD also indicates the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and certain regions of Gujarat. This will be beneficial for agriculture by increasing moisture, but it also poses the risk of waterlogging and flash floods in some areas. Significant rainfall is also expected in Saurashtra and Kutch. Furthermore, isolated areas in Northeast India are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka may also experience heavy rainfall at times.
