Woman Killed by Husband in Gorakhpur: Shooting in Public Market

In a shocking act of violence, a man murdered his wife in a busy marketplace in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday. The event unfolded around 8 pm on Jail Road, within the area of the Shahpur Police Station. Initial reports indicate the murder was a result of a disagreement over property. The victim, Mamta Chauhan, was accompanied by her husband, Vishwakarma Chauhan, at a photo studio when the shooting occurred. The husband had concealed a pistol in his helmet. He subsequently removed the weapon and shot his wife, resulting in her death. The couple had been married for 15 years and had a 13-year-old daughter. They had been living apart for the last one and a half years. Mamta, a resident of Khajni, was living with her daughter in a rented house near Geeta Vatika. After the shooting, the accused stayed at the location for approximately 25 minutes, expressing that he was greatly distressed by his wife. Law enforcement authorities quickly took the accused into custody and commenced an investigation.
