Uttar Pradesh educators are set to receive unprecedented healthcare support following a key cabinet resolution. Chaired by CM Yogi Adityanath, the meeting extended cashless IPD services to 15 lakh teachers, shiksha mitrs, and staff in private and government hospitals alike.
This realization of a prior Teachers’ Day commitment carries a 448 crore rupee price tag, enveloping basic and secondary sectors comprehensively. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna announced approvals for 30 of 32 items in the briefing.
Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi outlined coverage for over 2.97 lakh, including aided Sanskrit schools and vocational experts, at 89.25 crore rupees. Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh projected 11.95 lakh beneficiaries—teachers, special educators, wardens, and nutrition aides—under a per capita 3,000-rupee premium, summing 358.61 crore rupees.
Services adhere to PM-JAY and NHA tariffs, accessible at empaneled private facilities. Self-financed school staff need district verification by committees led by inspectors and BEOs. Dependents qualify, but overlaps with Ayushman Bharat, CM Jan Arogya, or similar schemes bar dual benefits.
The policy’s breadth—from full-time instructors to part-time helpers—demonstrates the government’s educator-centric approach. It alleviates out-of-pocket expenses, improves health outcomes, and reinforces UP’s drive for quality education through supported human capital.
