Political animosity in Andhra Pradesh reached a fever pitch as YSR Congress leader and ex-minister Jogi Ramesh accused minister Nara Lokesh of orchestrating threats to his safety. From his Ibrahimpatnam base, Ramesh told journalists on Monday that Lokesh bears responsibility for potential attacks, referencing a Sunday incident where petrol bombs rained on his dwelling.
Led by MP Kesineni Chinni on Lokesh’s behest, TDP supporters allegedly struck with police facilitation, intending murder and familial intimidation. Ramesh, joined by Krishna-NTR YSRCP members, reaffirmed his spiritual anchor in Venkateswara and political fealty to Jagan Mohan Reddy, rejecting gag orders amid false claims.
He decried the violence as TDP’s tactic to quash failure spotlights and scare BC leaders quiet. Massing hundreds for the onslaught marks it as a democratic and communal assault, Ramesh maintained.
Despite naming names and proof, officials shun attacker arrests, prosecuting him while his father, wife, and son faced mortal peril inside, aided by police bias.
This flare-up signals turbulent times ahead, testing institutional impartiality and opposition resilience in the state.
