Today in Jagdalpur, the police have arrested two inter-state smugglers who were taking about 804.805 kg ganja to Maharashtra by hiding it among the cartoons of oil bottles in the truck. According to the police, the value of the seized ganja is said to be more than Rs 80 lakh 48,050. .
Among these accused caught by the police, the name of one is Suhash Kumar Kshirsagar (age 24 years), father Kumar Kshirsagar and the other is Somnath Vijay Chaure (age 26 years), father Vijay Bhagwat Chaure. Both the smugglers are residents of Solapur district of Maharashtra. According to the police, based on the information of the informer, the team set up a blockade near NH 63 main road in front of village Dhanpunji Forest Naka. During this time, when the truck passed by, the team stopped and searched it and they were shocked. A total of 804.805 kg was hidden in 26 plastic sacks among the cartons of lamp oil in the trunk of the truck, which was recovered by the team.
When the accused were strictly interrogated about the ganja, they confessed to their crime and said that they were smuggling ganja from Odisha and taking it to Maharashtra via Jagdalpur. Police have also seized the truck used in transportation, sesame oil for lighting lamps (105 cartoons) and two mobile phones of Vivo company. The total price of all these is ₹96,73,050.
In this case, a case has been registered against the accused under Section 20 (b) ii (c) NDPS Act and investigation has been started. The accused will be produced before the Honorable Court on judicial remand.
