District hospital got National Quality Assurance Standard Certificate, Delhi team appreciated the better health facility

Balodabazar District Hospital has received the National Quality Assurance Standard Certificate for better health facilities. Even before this, the district hospital has received the National Quality Assurance Standard Certificate.

In June 2024, a three-day test of the services being provided in the district hospital was conducted by a national level test team. This team included Dr. Subrajyoti Rao from Bhubaneswar, Dr. Rupendra Kumar from Lucknow and Ritu Nair from Delhi, who inspected and marked 15 departments of the hospital very closely. After the test, the district hospital finally met the said standards and a certificate was issued.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajesh Kumar Awasthi said that all the preparations were done under the guidance of Collector Deepak Soni. National Quality Assurance Standard Certificate, also known as NQAS, is an evaluation system started by the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of India to check the quality of services being provided in hospitals. Getting the said certificate by an institution reveals the improving facilities.

Under this NQAS, 15 departments like IPD, OPD, Emergency, Maternity, Labor, Pharmacy, Blood Bank, Radiology, Lab, OT, SNCU etc. were tested in 8 areas in the district hospital, which are service system, patient’s rights, input, support service, clinical service, infection control and outcome. Along with NQAS, the district hospital has also received the certificate of target, which is set for maternal and child health. According to the CMHO, the team that came for inspection has praised some departments of the hospital like Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) and Emergency the most. The most special achievement of a hospital is the better facility given to the patient in emergency situation. In such a situation, the inspection team also praised the emergency system. The emergency service has received 98.88 marks out of 100, SNCU 95.48 and NRC 94.86. The entire district hospital has received 91.92 marks.

There are 200 staff working in the hospital.

It is worth mentioning that the district hospital has already received this certificate for excellent health facilities. The new certificate shows that quality services are being continued. Let us tell you that about 200 staff are currently working in the hospital. Specialist doctors from major departments like gynecology, surgery, medicine, ENT, mental health, orthopedics, ophthalmology, pediatrics are providing services. Facilities like sonography, CT scan, dialysis are being provided in the hospital, while MRI has been approved.

Collector Deepak Soni expressed satisfaction over this achievement of the district hospital and asked the hospital to remain ready to serve the general public. He congratulated all the doctors and staff including District Medical Officer and Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajesh Awasthi and asked them to continue doing better work in future so that people can get the benefit of health facilities.
