Madhya Pradesh: Big news has come out from Madhya Pradesh. Here the police headquarters has taken such a step for women sex workers, which has given them great relief. In fact, now anywhere in the state, women sex workers caught from brothels operated on dhabas or hotels will not be made accused by the police. Written instructions have been issued by the Police Headquarters to the Superintendents of Police of all the districts and the police commissioners of Bhopal and Indore in this regard. The police headquarters has said that the woman’s sex worker to be caught will neither be arrested nor harassed.
According to the instructions issued, it is often seen in such cases that when the police rage on the hotel-dhabas, the woman caught during the action also makes sex workers an accused. Whereas, such women are already exploited many times. Keeping this in view, Special DG Women Safety Pragya Richa Srivastava gave clear instructions that the police will have to behave like the victims and exploited persons instead of convicting these women.
In this direction, police officers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance, so that no female sex worker’s rights can be violated. Also, the police will also have to take care that the women should treat sex workers with sensitivity and sympathy. With this decision, the state police will now work to create a safe and sympathetic environment for women who were still in the grip of law.
