Officials woke up after villagers took action against illegal sand transportation, advised villagers not to take law in their hands, then confiscated 4 trucks…

Praveen Sahu, Abhanpur. A case came to light in village Koliari on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when the driver of a truck carrying sand tried to crush the villagers who were trying to stop him. After this incident, SDM Abhanpur reached village Lakhna today with the police and mineral department team. Meetings were held with village leaders and villagers, assuring them that their problems would be resolved and they were advised not to take the law into their own hands. After this, the joint team inspected the illegal sand storage sites in the village and seized 4 Hiva vehicles parked there.

SDM Abhanpur Ravi Singh said that after the incident on Thursday night, he has reached Lakhna today with the SDOP and the team of the Mineral Department and along with advising the villagers, he has taken action to seize 4 Hiva vehicles parked around the illegal sand storage sites.

Since the GPS of these vehicles is currently off, a technical team will be called to open the GPS and further action will be taken under the Mining Act. The SDM further said that action will be taken against all the places in the village where illegal sand has been stored by collecting information about them.
