Eight individuals have been taken into custody in Datia city in Madhya Pradesh after some Hindu outfits accused them of distributing what they claimed have been controversial books about non secular conversion, police stated on Monday.
A bunch of 10 individuals, together with 5 ladies, have been distributing non secular books on Sunday when some individuals objected to it and alerted the police, an official stated.
Those that have been distributing the books have been quickly joined by their supporters on the police station and either side created ruckus, resulting in eight individuals being taken into custody, he stated.
“We’ve got taken a case beneath part 505(2) of Indian Penal Code (statements creating or selling enmity, hatred, or ill-will between lessons) in opposition to 10 individuals, two of whom are unidentified,” Kotwali police station in cost Ravindra Sharma stated.
“Appearing on a tip off, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists introduced the group from close to Holy Cross College after alleging that the books the latter have been giving out have been about non secular conversion. We’re probing the matter,” he stated.
